Old Adobe Mission Scottsdale

Construction of the first Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, now known as Old Adobe Mission, represents a story of Scottsdale’s soul and cultural commitment that transformed a small community. The Mission, a Scottsdale landmark, was built in the 1930s by Mexican field workers recruited to work the cotton farms and is the original worship space for Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish.
The walls are constructed of handmade adobe bricks. Each brick was carried and placed by hand to form 17‑foot walls and a bell tower soaring 30 feet above. The 15 stained‑glass windows were handcrafted from glass discarded from St. Augustine’s Cathedral in Tucson.In 2000, the City of Scottsdale recognized the value of Old Adobe Mission and placed it on the Registry of Historic Buildings.
