DAVID A. GORDON 1866-1947 EDUCATOR. For over 60 years this outstanding Negro was an entrepreneurial, educational, religious, and political leader in Washington County. On this site in 1897 he founded the Royal School for young Negro children. ERECTED 2009 WASHINGTON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OAK GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH GORDON FAMILY
