1ST KY CAVALRY BEGINNING
Union Col. Frank Wolford started
recruiting for the 1st Ky Cavalry
here in July 1861. Unit fought in
over 300 engagements, including
Perryville & Mill Springs. Local
recruits included: Col. Silas Adams,
eventual commander of the unit,
Eastham Tarrant, author of Wild
Riders of 1st Ky Cavalry, Jarrard
Jenkins, killed at Perryville and
James Humphrey, killed at Atlanta.
Dedicated October 14, 2018.
