Homesite of Thomas Clay McCreery. Born in 1816. He died in 1890. He was one of Daviess County's most distinguished natives, an accomplished lawyer, orator, and farmer. A presidential elector 1852, 1856, 1860. United States senator from 1868-71, elected to fill an unexpired term, and from 1873-1879.

Grandson of Thomas Clay, a Revolutionary War officer, legislator.
