Home of Linn Boyd, 1800-59, stood 500 ft. south. Served in Kentucky Legislature, U.S. Congress, wrote resolution to annex Texas. House Speaker, 1851-55. Proposed for Vice President by Kentucky delegates at Democratic Convention, 1856, which chose Breckinridge of Ky. Elected Lt. Governor, 1859, but died before taking office.

Boyd County, Kentucky, is named for him.
