This house erected in 1880 on land originally donated to the town by pioneer Gabriel Madison in 1799. Now owned by Ohio County Historical Society, the home is its museum. It was the former home of John C. Thomas, early Hartford merchant. With two brothers, he operated Thos. Bros. Hardware & Saddlery on Main and Union Streets.
That structure is also still standing.
