Under the municipal building lies the old Morgan Springs, named for General Daniel Morgan of Revolutionary War fame. Water from spring furnishes a portion of the supply used by fountain in front of building. The city of Morganfield was established in 1811 on part of a military grant that was given to Daniel Morgan; Morganfield named for him.
