"The Monastery", First Carmel in U.S. Founded October 15, 1790, by four Carmelites from Belgium three of them natives of Maryland. Nuns moved to Baltimore Sept. 13, 1831 the restorers of Mt. Carmel in MD. Recovered site March 27, 1935. Restored buildings 1937. State Roads Commission of Maryland
