Chapel Hill A post-Civil War African-American farming community established on former plantation land. Named for the Digges family chapel. A Freedman's Bureau school established in 1868 and a meetinghouse of ca. 1880 became focal points of the community. A Benevolent Society lodge and Rosenwald school were built in 1922, followed by a second Rosenwald school in 1925.
