Bloomsbury Site of Home of Levin Winder Levin Winder, 1757-1819, was a Lt. Colonel in the American Revolution and a Major General in the State Militia. He was a Federalist Delegate to the General Assembly in 1806 and became Speaker in 1808. Elected Governor in 1812, he opposed American entry into the War of 1812, but he authorized use of the militia to defend the state against the British attacks on Washington and Baltimore.
