In 1844 the Reverend Jonathon Davis founded the Methodist Episcopal Church to serve the community of Davis, known then as the village of Brooklyn. In 1846 the congregation built the town’s first church. The present one, which dates from 1895, is a unique Victorian era church due to its spindles, shingles and sunbursts, more typically found on residences of the period.
In 1968 the church was renamed Davis United Methodist Church.
