Feb. 26, 1778, thirteen hundred enemy troops crossed from Philadelphia to capture Ellis's and Wayne's forces engaged in foraging. The enemy was met here at Cooper's Creed Bridge on March 1, 1778 by Gen's. Wayne and Pulaski and a severe skirmish ensued
