Inscription
Here Colonel Edward Hand, on Washington's orders, stationed riflement who mat Cornwallis' troops enroute to Trenton and repulsed them with heavy loss. The time thus gained enabled Washington to make ready for the Second Battle of Trenton, fought on January 2, 1777.
