Golden
Inscription
Golden derives its name from the gold mining operations that have taken place here since the 1820s. Permanently settled in the 1840s under its original name of Real de San Francisco, the settlement was also known as New Placers in the mid-19th century. The historic village church of St. Francis may date from the early 1840s.
