Inscription

The small Tewa-speaking pueblo of Tesuque was established around 1300, and was first visited by Europeans in 1591. The Pueblo Revolt, which drove the Spanish from New Mexico for thirteen years, broke out here in 1680. Its present church was built in the 1880’s, on the foundations of an earlier structure.
