Inscription
Appointed by William Penn in 1682 as Surveyor General of Pennsylvania. A member of its first Assembly, 1682, and its Provincial Council, 1683-86. Under Penn's direction, Holme laid out the original portion of Philadelphia. He drafted the first map of this city, 1683, and a map of the settled parts of Pennsylvania, 1687.
Here on his estate he was buried - as were members of the Crispin family, relatives of Penn.
