Inscription
Several descendants of the Chapman family are buried here, as are some veterans. One of those interred is Captain John Chapman (34th VA Cav. CSA) who was wounded several times - once at Gettysburg - and who led troops in a skirmish at the Curry Farm in 1864. He died in 1886. His mother, Julia McComas Chapman, was the first white inhabitant born in present-day Lincoln County.
