Inscription
Born November 18, 1847, he moved to Cameron as a child. Lying about his age, he enlisted in the 6th WV Volunteer Infantry in September 1864. Alley was captured at New Creek, WV, in November and was a POW until February 1865. Postwar, he worked in Cameron. Uriah "Uncle Duck" Alley was the state's last living Civil War veteran when he died October 26, 1947, at age 99.
